Custom Solutions

When Standard Platforms Cannot Meet Your Requirements. We Build.

Bespoke learning platform architecture, development, and long-term managed support for complex enterprise requirements.

The Challenge

When Learning Platforms Need to Be Engineered, Not Configured

Most enterprise learning requirements can be met through enhancement of an existing LMS or through one or more FabricAcademy capabilities. Some cannot. Organisations with highly specific security architectures, complex regulatory environments, bespoke workflow integrations, or multi-region deployment requirements sometimes need a solution built precisely to their specification — not configured from a template. This is where The Virtual Forge engineering team operates.

Custom Solutions

Bespoke Learning Platforms Engineered for Your Environment

The Virtual Forge designs and builds bespoke learning platforms, integration layers, and operational modules precisely aligned to your context. Every solution is engineered from the ground up to reflect your systems, your workflows, your users, and your regulatory environment. Whether you need a bespoke learner portal, a complex multi-system integration architecture, a secure government-grade deployment, or a purpose-built operational training tool, we provide the technical foundation — and the long-term managed support to keep it performing.

INTEGRATION-FIRST DESIGN

Built for Integration from Day One

All custom platforms are built with integration-first architecture, connecting seamlessly with your LMS, HRIS, operational systems, and the wider FabricAcademy ecosystem from day one. The bespoke platform is not a standalone product — it is part of the connected ecosystem, feeding data to the unified analytics layer and drawing intelligence from the AI Knowledge Platform.

HOSTING & SECURITY

Secure Cloud Deployment for Regulated Environments

Custom platforms can be deployed on Azure or AWS depending on your organisation's cloud strategy and data residency requirements. We design and implement security architectures appropriate to your sector — including government security classifications, healthcare data governance requirements, and financial services regulatory compliance.

LONG-TERM SUPPORT

Long-Term Platform Support and Managed Services

Custom platform delivery does not end at go-live. The Virtual Forge provides long-term managed support, including DevOps pipeline management, platform monitoring, performance optimisation, content governance, and ongoing development to meet evolving requirements. Support tiers are agreed at contract stage from standard business-hours cover to 24/7 SLA.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know explained

How do you decide whether we need a custom platform or an enhancement of what we have?

We start with an honest discovery process. Before recommending any architecture, our team maps your existing systems, workflows, constraints, and requirements thoroughly. Custom development is only recommended where it delivers a clear, demonstrable advantage over enhancing an existing platform — we will tell you directly if enhancement is the better answer.

How long does a custom platform build take?

It depends on scope and complexity. A focused custom module or integration layer can be delivered in six to ten weeks. A full bespoke platform, including discovery, architecture, build, testing, and deployment, typically runs over three to six months. Every engagement begins with a structured discovery phase that produces a realistic timeline before any build work begins.

Who owns the platform once it is built?

Ownership is agreed at contract stage and can be structured either way. Some clients prefer full IP ownership of the platform we build for them. Others prefer a licensed model where The Virtual Forge retains the IP and the client pays for use and ongoing support. We are flexible on structure and advise on the commercial and practical implications of each model during scoping.

Can a custom platform integrate with our existing HR and operational systems?

Yes — integration-first architecture is a core principle of everything we build. Custom platforms are designed from the outset to connect with your HRIS, scheduling, compliance, and operational systems using standard API frameworks.
