AI Coaching

Practice the Conversations That Matter. Before They Happen for Real.

A safe-to-fail practice environment where managers rehearse high-stakes conversations with the Performance Partner AI that responds like a real employee— and get scored on how they handled it.

The Challenge

Training Isn’t Enough — Managers Need Practice

Managing people is one of the most skill-intensive parts of any leadership role — and one of the least practised. Managers are expected to confront safety breaches, challenge poor performance, navigate conflict, and deliver difficult feedback, often with no prior rehearsal and no way to know how they will perform under pressure. When those conversations go wrong, the consequences are real: safety incidents, grievances, damaged trust, and disengaged teams. Traditional training tells managers what to do. FabricAcademy's AI Coaching capability lets them practise doing it.

AI Coaching

Practise Leadership Before It Matters

FabricAcademy's AI Coaching capability is a dedicated practice environment for managers. Users select a scenario from a library of pre-built workplace situations — each with a defined setting, background context, learning objectives, and configurable difficulty level. They then conduct the conversation by typing as the manager while the AI responds as the employee, adapting its behaviour in real time based on what the manager says. When the conversation ends, the platform generates a detailed scored evaluation across multiple management competency dimensions, with written analysis of what was handled well and what needs development. Every session is stored with its evaluation, allowing managers to track progress over time.

HOW THE ROLE-PLAY WORKS

Realistic Scenarios, Without Real-World Risk

The user selects a scenario — for example, a fire service manager confronting a firefighter who bypassed mandatory LOTO safety procedures during an inspection. The AI plays the employee character, configured to a specific personality and difficulty level. At the hardest setting, the AI deflects responsibility, minimises the incident, and becomes confrontational — mimicking the realistic pushback a manager would face in a live situation. The manager types their responses. The AI adapts. The conversation unfolds as it would in reality, but in a consequence-free environment where the manager can test their approach, make mistakes, and learn from them.

THE EVALUATION FRAMEWORK

Turning Conversations Into Measurable Development.

When the conversation ends, the platform generates a detailed scored evaluation across competency dimensions including: clarity and directness in addressing the issue; understanding the underlying cause; emphasis on safety and organisational culture; accountability and constructive challenge; management and action planning; communication and interpersonal skills; and policy and procedural awareness. Each dimension receives a rating and a written analysis — specific to what the manager said, not generic feedback. This is the layer that turns practice into measurable development.

ADMIN CAPABILITIES

Tailoring Leadership Practice to Your Organisation.

The concept of a Virtual Academy is not just about delivering digital training — it is about creating a place that belongs to your organisation and your people. Virtual Spaces is the physical manifestation of that concept. It gives your academy a home, your brand a presence, and your learners an environment they can return to, explore, and identify with. It is what separates a learning platform from a learning culture.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know explained

What kinds of scenarios are available?

FabricAcademy provides a library of pre-built scenarios covering the most common high-stakes management conversations — safety breaches, performance issues, task allocation disputes, conflict between team members, absence management, and more. Each scenario includes a defined setting, background context, learning objectives, and difficulty level. Organisations can also build custom scenarios through the admin dashboard, tailored to their specific sector, roles, and the situations their managers actually face.

How realistic is the AI employee?

The AI character is configurable across a range of behaviours and difficulty levels. At the most challenging setting, the AI deflects responsibility, minimises the incident, becomes confrontational, and responds to the manager's specific words — not a scripted sequence. The result is a conversation that feels genuinely unpredictable, mimicking the realistic pushback managers encounter when addressing difficult situations with resistant employees. The difficulty can be reduced for early-stage practice or increased as capability develops.

How is performance evaluated?

At the end of each conversation, the platform generates a detailed scored evaluation across multiple management competency dimensions — including clarity and directness, understanding the underlying cause, emphasis on safety and culture, accountability, action planning, communication skills, and policy awareness. Each dimension receives a rating and a written analysis specific to what the manager said in that session. This is not generic feedback — it is a precise account of where the approach was effective and where it fell short.

Can we build scenarios specific to our organisation?

Yes. The admin dashboard allows organisations to create custom scenarios with their own settings, context, learning objectives, and AI character configurations. Evaluation criteria are also configurable per scenario, so the competencies being assessed can be aligned to your management framework, safety standards, or regulatory requirements. Scenario translation is built into the admin workflow for multilingual deployment.

How does this connect to the rest of FabricAcademy?

Evaluation data from every AI Coaching session feeds into the FabricAcademy analytics layer, making management capability trends visible at team and organisational level alongside all other performance data. Coaching session outcomes can also inform Blended Learning pathway adjustments — if a manager consistently scores low on a specific competency, the platform can surface relevant learning content automatically.
